The Twins: Year one.

"Happy birthday to youuuuuu..." Alison was singing to the twins as she got them bathed and dressed for their very first birthday party. She had been singing all day. All sorts of songs, with Happy Birthday randomly thrown in. Hana giggled every time Alison elongated the word 'you'. Aiden was too busy playing with the plushie frog face on his new shirt.

"Happy birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuu!" More giggles. Alison tugged a pink shirt with a fluffy, white lamb's face on it over the little girl's head. Each baby had matching pants and little socks to go with the shirts.

She scooped up one wiggle worm in each arm and headed down the stairs to the living room. "Happy birthday, Aiden and Hanaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Happy Birthday to you!"

"Nobody panic," Alison chuckled as she made her way over to her 'dying' husband. She knelt down beside him. "I'm trained to respond in situations such as these."

She leaned down and gave her hammy hubby a long smooch.

Longshot would have refuted Rogue's medical analysis, but he was busy dying here! He flopped down in finality. Just before Alison appeared to give him the kiss of life.

He did not panic. Though he might have slipped a little tongue in before 'reviving.' Quickly. So his Mom did not see it.

He blinked up at Alison. "My hero..."

Cookie in hand, Lisa leaned on John's unoccupied knee and watched the spectacle curiously. Then she looked over at her father with a puzzled look. "I think he was kissing her, Dad."

"Could be," John answered non-commitally as he continued bouncing little Hana.

Dakota was prevented from saying anything untoward as Will returned with the portable bassinet. He set it down next to his father and tried to disappear into the woodwork. Unfortunately, he hadn't worn anything brown. His red t-shirt and blue jeans stuck out a bit.

Gloria Jean daintily nibbled on her cookie. She looked up from the married couple on the floor. "That's kinda like how Lisa and I caught Robbie and Miyuki the other day..."

Pay no mind to Asuka behind the young girl.

[identity profile] light-in-sound.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Somewhere, Robbie just got a chill.

Alison laughed and shook her head, still sitting by her husband on the floor. She could smooch her hunny whenever she wanted! And he was so cute when he was being a goofball.

"Robbie was dying and Miyuki revived him?" She grinned.

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Years of practice let Longshot look the picture of innocence. "It was a good kiss."

He propped himself up on his elbows. He glanced at a placidly calm Asuka. No warning alarms went off in his head. Then again, she was a master ninja.

"Alison made them watch Sleeping Beauty one too many times." He nodded. He liked the Disney version a lot better than the one he read in a book somewhere.

[identity profile] clericpreston.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Good thing, too. I'd hate to lose my youngest son." John commented calmly from his seat. He didn't really believe Asuka would do anything to the boy, but that didn't mean that it wasn't entertaining to see Robbie think she would.

[identity profile] laertes.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Gloria Jean shrugged. As long as everyone was alive and knew everything, it was fine with her. But beings of higher power help her brothers when they started dating.

Dakota chuckled as he settled Winona in the bassinet and put it off to the side.

Rogue emerges from the kitchen with a couple cookies for herself and her husband. She eyes Longshot and Alison on the floor. She can't help but grin.

"See? Told y'all it wasn't fatal."

[identity profile] light-in-sound.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"It was a near miss, though," Alison assured Rogue. "Could have lost my husband!"

And that would have been BAD. Longshot promised her another baby, darnit. She wanted a baaaaaaaaby!

Her husband got a long, significant look.

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Longshot blinked at his wife. "How about we get the presents and things done for the wee gigglers? Provided the grandparents have space on their laps for paper tearing."

The jonin seemed busy playing with her grandson. She blinked and nodded. She was not letting her little grandson go! The tickle monster could come back and get him.

[identity profile] light-in-sound.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Presents? Huh? Alison was thinking of unwrapping, but not in those terms. Why was her husband still dressed again?

Oh. Right. Company.

She blinked and looked around for the gift table. "Lisa? Gloria Jean? Want to divvy up the presents for the little squirts?"

[identity profile] laertes.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Gloria Jean stuffed the rest of her cookie into her mouth and said something like "Sure!" Except with a lot more crumb spraying. She scampered over to the pile of presents and started passing them out.

[identity profile] clericpreston.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Lisa was right behind her friend. She dropped a package into John's lap within reach of Hana, then scurried away to find more. Each twin ended up with a pretty impressive pile around the grandparent of their choice

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Longshot saw Rogue push her husband into a chair and promptly sit on his lap. He had to grin at that. Then he was distracted by the girls piling up the presents. He clapped for his twins.

"Yay! Present time!" He bounced in place and waited for the babies (and grandparents) to start the opening!

[identity profile] clericpreston.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hana immediately reached for the pretty package Lisa left for her. She peered at it thoughtfully as her little hands grabbed at ribbon and paper ineffectively.

Grandpa helped by making a tear in the paper and guiding her hands to it. Then it was much easier to rip! And he helped further by gently wresting the handful of paper out of her mouth when she shoved it in.

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Aiden tried to reach for two packages at once. He huffed a little in annoyance when his grip on either didn't hold. Darn stinky slick things.

His eyes widened as Grandma brought one of the packages closer. Then he... smacked his hands down on the package! Wheee!

But... uh, oh! He broke the shiny paper. He looked up at Grandma with his little lip sticking out and wobbling. He didn't mean it, Grandma! She had to believe him.

Grandma just smiled gently and kissed the top of Aiden's head. She shook the package to get his attention back to it. Then she carefully peeled where Aiden tore it back. She made a happy gasp when she stopped.

Aiden grabbed with both hands to do it, too! He'd show Grandma!

Alison pulled Longshot down on the couch with her and snuggled up to him as they watched their little ones opening their first birthday presents. The two biggest ones were from Mommy and Daddy. They were not wrapped, though. Alison would let Daddy present them to the kids after the other gifts were opened.

Hana's present revealed a stack of baby books with big, colorful pictures and textured items in them like fuzzy sheep and shiny mirrors.

Aiden's box contained large, colorful building blocks made of foam.

[identity profile] pastthegumbo.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Rogue is very comfortable on her perch. It seems to cushion her just right. He laughs a bit at the gusto the babies have at rippin' and tearin' the wrapping paper off.

Somewhere in that pile of presents is a Little Superstar Jammin’ Band Piano for Hana and a Little Superstar Bop ’n Beats Drum Set for Aiden. Rogue figures Alison won't mind musical presents.

[identity profile] laertes.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Dakota hoped he seemed just right to his wife's shapely bottom. It would be a sad day when she wouldn't want to sit on his lap anymore. He kept one arm around her and reached over to check on Winona. The mass carnage of wrapping paper didn't even make his daughter stir.

Gloria Jean stood to the side and bounced on the balls of her feet as the presents got opened. She really really really really really hoped the babies opened her gifts next. She had spent a lot of time and care picking hers out.

She had gotten (with some money from Dad) two stuffed animals: a soft little lamb for Hana and a gruff little billy goat for Aiden.

[identity profile] clericpreston.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Hana was delightedly ripping into every package Grandpa handed her. She was too little to really understand anything beyond the fun ripping sounds and squeals of happiness from Aunt Lisa every time another one was unwrapped. But, she was having a ball and Grandpa held up each uncovered toy for everyone to see when she was done with the wrapping.

Before the frenzy was over, Hana had amassed an impressive pile of toys. A barn playset that made animal sounds, more building blocks, large crayons and over-sized coloring books, an alligator that wiggled and walked when pulled on a string, and a plastic whale bath toy that she could squirt Mommy and Daddy with!

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Aiden and Grandma were present-opening fiends! There was wrapping paper everywhere! Even a tiny bit caught in the tiny tot's hair. He didn't care. He ripped off wrapping paper and threw it in the air. He giggled as it either floated or plummeted down.

Longshot snuggled Alison through the present-opening carnage. When there were big piles of stuff beside both kids and no more presents at hand, the Mojoworlder knew it was his time for the big presents.

"A couple more!" Longshot called out happily before kissing Alison on the cheek. Then he slipped out of her arms and disappeared to bring in the two big presents for the twins.

"Tah dah!"

[identity profile] light-in-sound.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Alison couldn't wait for these! She sat forward on the couch and watched between the two tiny face as they looked at what Daddy had brought in for them. Both looked very interested in the big red (http://images.etoys.com/g/product/781/781875/781875_1001_LP.jpg) and pink (http://images.etoys.com/g/product/781/781860/781860_1001_LP.jpg) Junior Quad riding toys.

Both babies cooed and made grabby hands!

[identity profile] sonofarize.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Longshot reached over for Aiden. No tickle monster around. Also, the little man needed to sit on his new ride!

"C'mere. Daddy's gonna help you ride." He settled Aiden on the little quad bike.

"Vroom vroom?"

[identity profile] light-in-sound.livejournal.com 2009-01-03 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Alison gently un-Grandpa'd Hana and settled her onto the other bike. She grinned at the wide-eyed wonder on her daughter's face when she turned the ignition key and the engine made revving sounds. Then it started to roll and Hana broke into high-pitched laughter and squeals of delight.

Aiden giggled and bounced in the seat. "Vroom!"
