Sharing the news!

The knock at the door came almost exactly fifteen minutes after Alison had hung up the phone with John. He had said fifteen minutes, after all. It was little wonder which parent Robbie took after. The boy was almost -- almost -- never late.

Alison grinned as she swung the door open and smiled at her husband's adoptive father. To her eyes, John didn't really look old enough to be Robbie's father. Let alone Longshot who was a fully grown man. But, it worked for them and it made Longshot happy. Ultimately, that was what mattered the most to her.

"Hiya, John. Come on in." She stepped back to let him in. "Longshot's in the living room. Robbie and Miyuki are off doing something top secret for the clan. I don't even ask anymore." Actually, she did know. They were working on plans for Longshot's birthday and adoption celebration with the jonin. But, she wasn't going to say that while her husband was within hearing range.

"Everything okay?" He looked at her curiously as he shrugged out of his jacket and hung it on a hook by the front door. She eyed the gun holsters on his forearms. She could use guns, she just didn't like them. Too unpredictable for her.

"Yup. Just wanted to tell you something." His perplexed look made her giggle. "It's a secret. Go on in." She nudged him toward the living room and followed after.

Longshot is ever so glad he can't hear his father's thoughts. He had a hard enough time with the memory flashes he picked up from Tasha and about her and Logan. "Well, if you're as drunk as I am, how can you save me? Your pants will be sagging off just as much."

He scratched his head. "Mm. Yeah. I want to do a lot of the digging and stuff, but maybe you could help with the bench swing and other chairs? And putting the stones in. That's gonna need more than me."

"Careful that you two don't decide to build the fish pond while you're drunk. We might end up with crocodiles rather than koi. And that would be bad for Sadie to swim in."

She was mostly kidding, but with Longshot there was a very real possibility of crocodiles or anything else. So, it was good to be prepared.

Longshot kissed Alison on the cheek before replying with a grin. "Phht. I'd probably try to put the shovel through my foot digging. I hear little samurai armadillos like chopped off toes. It would be the perfect bait."

"I'm sure we can find a less painful way to bait the little beast." John grinned and shook his head. Best to think of one before the drinking begins. Otherwise, spontaneous toe amputation might start sounding like a good idea to him, too.

"Find a pretty lady armadillo to distract him?"

"I don't know if that works. The samurai armadillo has his eye on the most beautiful woman in the universe. He may never go back to painted armor ladies." Longshot winked at Alison.

Alison giggled and blushed a little, hiding her face against his shoulder. "I'm not sure I qualify for that particular award. But, I appreciate you vote of confidence."

"You do in my eyes," Longshot mumbled before he craned his neck around to kiss her forehead.

He looked back at John. "Maybe we could find armadillo bait at a pet store?"
