Small surprises.

Alison didn't like it when her husband wasn't home. There were a variety of reasons for it, but the main reason was because he wasn't with her when he was gone. She had spent most of the day in a funk, waiting for Longshot and Asuka to return home from a clan mission. She couldn't complain too much when he was sent away. The jonin knew Alison was pregnant and somewhat clingy where her husband was concerned. So, if he had been called away, it was probably very important.

She still missed him, though.

So, she spent most of the day in her music room. Her single had done remarkably well since its release and now she was looking to find more good material to record. She had almost an album's worth already.

She was taking a break from working, having a sandwich for lunch in the kitchen, when she saw the glowy orange light from John's arrival. She hoped Lisa was with him. The girl had not been in her room this morning and that had worried Alison, too.

"Hi, guys!" She called. "Come have some lunch with me."

"Yep. You got your horsie and a suit of armor. And got to meet King Arthur." She was glad there were things he wasn't remembering for right now. Little ones didn't need those memories. When he was back to his adult self, then they could talk about that.

"We should go back some time and visit. It was a lot of fun." She smiled and kissed his forehead.

"He had a nice beard," Longshot commented. "I was bigger and could fit into a saddle better."

He looked up at her. "I'll try not to be small forever, okay? I gotta be a big Daddy."

"Okay, sweetheart." She stroked his hair back and smiled down at him. "It's not your fault you're small. I'll know you'll be big again as soon as you can."

"And you'll be the very best Daddy ever. You remember that, okay? I believe in you."

"Yep! Because you need lots of me to snuggle to pieces!" He smiled his cutest smile as he set Maponos down on the blanket beside him. Not that the tiny Mojoworlder was angling for a snuggle right now. Perish the thought. Even if he found some way to inch even closer to Ali.

Maponos looked up at being setting down. Then it put its head down and waited for the right moment...

"I'll 'member."

How was it that Longshot was still as big a flirt at the age of four as he was as an adult? Alison chuckled and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him close for lots of snuggles and smooches.

"Yep! To snuggle all to pieces. There will be little Longshot pieces all over the place."

It was because even at the age of four, he still loved and adored Ali. He snuggled back happily making little 'eee!' sounds.

Maponos took the moment... and pounced! Then he scurried around on the snugglers! Ha ha! Free reign on the humans!

Longshot giggled and wiggled. Then tried to bury himself in Alison as his little simian ran up his back along his spine.

Alison laughed and held Longshot close, keeping her arms around him as much as she could to protect him from tiny, scampering toes. She kissed the top of his head and winked at him.

And then snagged the little simian the next time he came within grabbing range. "Silly monkey."

Maponos stared at Alison with something that could be considered a pout. Then he started nuzzling her hand affectionately.

Longshot peeked out at the little marmoset. He reached a little hand up to pet Maponos. However, he was not making a move to get away from the warm safety of Ali's body.

She giggled and kissed the little monkey on top of its head. And then kissed the little blond monkey in her arms on top of his head. All kinds of snuggles!

She held the marmoset a few more minutes for Longshot to pet. Then she set Mapanos down gently beside them and hugged the little Mojoworlder.

"Gonna be bedtime soon, snuggle bunny. I'm getting sleepy. We've had an exciting day."

"I made you tired?" Longshot blinked up at her. And then unstuck his chin from her shirt.

Maponos bounded over from where he had been set down to cling to Longshot's back pocket.

"Having all this fun made me tired. We had cookies and watched cartoons. And made a cool fort. And read fun books." She smiled at him and tapped his nose gently with one fingertip.

"And you had a big day... playing with little green men." She chuckled. "Are you tired at all?"

"Mm. No." And then he yawned a minute later. "Maybe a little."

He snuggled against Ali as Maponos climbed into his pocket. "Do I get to sleep in the big bed?"

Alison smiled and rubbed his back gently. She smiled at his pocket full of primate. She tickled Mapanos's head lightly.

"Yes, you can sleep in the big bed." She kissed his forehead. "Let's leave the fort here. We'll clean up tomorrow."

"Okay." He snuggled into Ali. She was big and strong, and he didn't feel like letting go. Even if the pygmy marmoset wiggling in his pocket tickled his butt. He giggled softly and buried his face against Alison's chest.

Alison scooped him up and carefully got to her feet with him in her arms. She made sure not to squish his little passenger hiding in his pocket as she stooped over to get them out of the fort. Then she carried him up the stairs to the bedroom.

Although, she had noticed a few sticky spots on him that the dish cloth had missed. A bath would be in order before bed.

Longshot lolled about in Ali's arms. There wasn't a better place to be to his mind. Even with Maponos still squirming in his back pocket. Though he was confused as to why Ali went past the bed.

"The bed's that way, Ali!"

She chuckled and kissed his cheek. "I know, sweetie. But, you're still a little sticky from the cannoli earlier. We need to get you into a bath before bed so you don't stick to the sheet."

She set him down on the edge of the tub and reached over to turn on the water.

"Oh." He looked at the big bathtub and then at the water starting to pour in. "Gotta go put Fuzzy away!"

Longshot grabbed his pygmy marmoset out of his back pocket and jumped off the tub. Then he tried running away from the bathtub of DOOOOM.

"Hey! Get back here!" She sighed and shook her head, half amused and half exasperated. She turned off the water and chased after him.

"C'mon, sweetheart. Just a quick bath and then bed. It won't hurt, I promise."

"Fuzzy needs to go in his little hooooome," he protested. And then he darted down the steps towards Maponos' cage. Maybe he could hide under the cage, too. Big tub of water was going to eat the little Longshot!

Alison huffed a sigh and chased after the unnaturally quick little one. Nobody with legs that short should be so fast. It wasn't fair.

"We can put him to bed after your bath, Longshot. Come on. Please?"

"He doesn't wanna get eated by the baftub!" He called up the stairs. He was still pitterpattering his feet hard. So hard he almost went right past Maponos' cage. He put the little monkey inside and closed it.

Then he tried to figure out his next plan of escape. Ali was following him!

"Nobody's going to get eated... eaten by the bath tub. I promise." She raced after him and made a grab for him near the marmoset's cage.

Ali may have been quick, but Longshot was still a Mojoworlder with the enhanced musculature to go with it. He ducked under her arms and raced back up the stairs giggling. As a means of distraction, he left his pants on the fourth floor landing.

Somewhere inside of him it was noted that Ali had a tendency to pick up his clothes.

"Longshot!" She groaned and chased after him. Up the stairs again. She was definitely going to need sleep after this ordeal.

As she passed his pants on the stairs, she scooped them up and kept right on running. "Please? I wouldn't let anything eat you."
