She hummed as she peeled the tough skin off the orange. She didn't mind doing it for him. Oranges always smelled wonderful when they were freshly peeled. They tasted good, too.
Once all the peel was off, she made sure to pick off as much of the bitter, white pith. Then she pulled the orange into three sections and handed him one.
"There you go, sweetheart." The microwave dinged just as she was finishing peeling the orange, so she stood up and sat him down in her seat. "I'll be right back. I'm going to get our pasta."
