She laughed and caught him before he could yank her down the stairs. She swung him up into her arms and kissed his cheek. "Easy there, cutie!"

Once she had a secure hold on him, she bounced him gently as she made her way down the stairs. The siren call of cannoli was strong.

"I promise it will still be there when we get to the kitchen."
