"I don't mind the wait," Alison assured her. She was fairly certain that Longshot wouldn't mind waiting to find out the sex of their babies, either. Their life had plenty of surprises. They could afford to spoil themselves in this instance.

And then they were listening to their babies' tiny hearts beating away. Four tiny hearts. Alison's face was in danger of breaking if her smile got any wider. The babies had inherited Longshot's two hearts.

She squeezed her husband's hand tightly and didn't even try to stop her eyes from brimming with tears. Her eyes were fixed to the screen. The sights and sounds before her, and Longshot's hand in hers were the only things that existed for her at that moment.
